Incorporating the techniques and editing of French New Wave cinema and a transitional colour palette, “Transition” is a short fashion film based on the budding romance of a gender-fluid, same sex couple. Inspired heavily by how modern-day directors use colour theory to represent developments within characters, the film follows a storyline that uses the colours blue, yellow and red to emphasise change. Running through the streets of London, dressed in luxury clothing that evolves as the characters unify, “Transition” aims to represent the LGBTQ+ community in the same aesthetic way that other high-end fashion campaigns depict straight couples, and offers the voices of the individuals within the community the chance to feel rightfully and appropriately amplified within the fashion industry.
